Just Cuz is probably Patterson’s most playable arrangement to date, without any of the soaring lead trumpet and complex rhythms you’ve come to expect from him. Based on a New-Orleans inflected, swingy, funky groove, this is a chart of happy feels and fun, easy soloing. Solos are written for trumpet and soprano sax, but easy to pass around for more solos or trading. [Instrumentation: 5 saxes (soprano lead), 8 brass, 4 rhythm]
